This entry is part 1 of 4 in the series HabakkuK's introduction

In the early spring of 2006, as the snows of the winter were melting I was making my way on a sidewalk in River Forest, IL, while listening to the audio version of the book “The Secret”. I left my car for service at the local outfit – Lake and Thatcher. It was still cold outside. No one was walking in the street other than me. I found the narration interesting. For a long while, the LOA fascinated me. I read books on the subject. Like many others, I was among the big group of the skeptical. I didn’t call it “crap”. I didn’t call it a scam. I just found it interesting but I still wasn’t sold on it. As I walked came a tipping point. It was a small “tip”. It turned out that the small “tip” got me tipped over into the ranks of those “sold” on the LOA idea. The tip came in a form a $10 bill printed by the U.S. mint. It was lying there in a small puddle of melting slushy snow and brown water, folded times three, probably all winter long. The bill was clear enough to attract my attention. I am one of this minority who trouble themselves to pick up a penny or a dime on the street or parking lot. Never before, I bent in order to pick up a $10 bill. It is a 1to 1,000 ratio between a penny and a $10 bill.

I was doubtful – is it real? I had to experiment. I went to the Jewel supermarket on Lake street, placed some groceries in the shopping cart, and handed the $10 bill to the cashier. The cashier accepted the payment, handed me the receipt and the bag of groceries. I said, thank you and she replied, “You are welcome”. Actually it was the $10 bill that was welcomed at Jewel.

Ok. No big deal. Just ten bucks picked up off a sidewalk. The same folks who scorn at picking a penny will also ridicule the significance of finding ten bucks on the street. However, I could not ignore the factual coincidence of manifesting money that paid for plain groceries while… I was listening to “The secret”. This coincidence continued to nag me.

Was it a mere coincidence?

Being the methodical student that I am, I had to reconcile this coincidence. I started to read and study. Books, more books; audio albums; documentary DVDs and attending live seminars. In the course of my studies, I found that my “tipping point” episode is called a serendipitous event. If you study the LOA in depth, you expect the occurrence of serendipitous events any time. All the time. This is part of the normal course of everyone’s life. Serendipity is not a coincidence. However, the majority calls it “luck”. If this is luck, then luck can be attracted and that is a subject of a future blog. In the next Blog, I will tell the story of the little known prophet HabakkuK. He practiced the LOA methodically – 27 centuries ago!

In the meantime, if you have a question or a comment you are invited to post it here.
